One person was killed and two injured Tuesday morning, Feb. 20, when a stolen car crashed into a traffic signal pole in Encino and burst into flames, authorities said.
The crash was reported about 12:15 a.m. at Ventura and Balboa boulevards.
Officers in a Los Angels Police Department patrol car had pulled up behind the car because it had its headlights off, and the driver “took off,” crashing into the pole, said Officer D. Orris of the LAPD.
Fox 11 reported that the driver was a 14-year-old girl and that the front-seat passenger was hurt and the back-seat passenger was killed.
