THERE is often a lot of trial and error that comes with skincare, with products for all kinds of texture and skin types.
One influencer claims she has found the best way to layer her antiaging skincare and lock in an insane amount of moisture.
Ashley has become a Tiktok star with an entire channel dedicated to skincare[/caption] The beauty vlogger has come under fire for her method[/caption]Like many women, Ashley Mixon uses a moisturiser as part of her nightly routine.
Whilst her skin looks incredibly supply, it’s not just her night cream that is giving her such a youthful glow – according to the Tiktok star.
Rather than just slathering it on though, she claims that her ‘beauty sandwich’ method helps to keep in any extra moisture.
She won’t just layer her rentinol with a moisturiser either, with the content creator revealing her lenghty method which uses three key products.
“This is my beauty sandwich, toner, Tretinoin [retinol], snail mucin,” she excitedly told her 470,000 followers, as she broke down her extensive skincare routine.
She continued: “This locks in the moisture [and] keeps my skin from getting irritated.”
If you want glowing skin just like the content creator, you have to start by double cleansing your skin to remove any sweat, dead cells or bacteria that have built up during the day.
Next, you want to go in with a toner as this will help revive your skin after a deep clean and help other products penetrate your skin.
Whilst her skin is still damp, the influencer will then apply a thin layer of Tretinoin, which is highly concentrated version of retinol.
Though she’ll finish up with snail mucin, serum and then a moisturiser, some fans were concerned about Ashley applying such a powerful product to damp skin.
This is because it has high concentrations of Vitamin A, which can cause irritation when you initially begin using it.
“I’ve been doing this for while and it was actually by accident. I think I was in a hurry one night,” she admitted, also revealing that she uses far more than the pea-size amount of retinol.
Understandably fans were a little shocked, with the content creator saying: “On one of my first videos, I put Tretinoin on my damp skin and people lost their minds.
“You would think they were going to call the law on me.”
Despite the backlash, the beauty guru claims that her ‘beauty sandwich method’ helps give her glass skin and has done for years.
“This is how I have always done it, this is what works for me,” she pointedly said, adding: “This locks in the moisture [and] keeps my skin from getting irritated.
She did acknowledge that it is best to avoid using this technique if you’ve just begun using a retinol, as dermatologists advise users to apply the product to dry skin.
“Tretinoin absorbs faster and deeper when your skin is damp, so it could irritate you,” she revealed.
Whilst these effects do wear off after 8-12 weeks, it’s best to layer any retinol products as your skin becomes accustomed to it.
To do this, simply sandwich your retinol between two layers of thick moisturizer and alternate which nights you use it.
With this tip, you should have glowing skin in no time.
