Scattered showers, stronger winds keep spring-like weather over PNW

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Light scattered showers, mild temperatures, and breezy conditions are expected around the Portland area Tuesday.

After a rainy early morning, we'll see a mainly dry conditions with showers picking up into the evening. Temps will bump to the upper 50s around the afternoon, bringing in a mild and almost pleasant feel to the day. Winds will also begin to increase to nearly 20 mph during the afternoon, mainly for east Portland neighborhoods.

Rain accumulation won't amount to much. Only a tenth of an inch of rain is expected from the coast to the Cascades Tuesday. Snow accumulation will be limited over our mountain passes through midweek with the heaviest snowfall taking aim at the ski slopes above 5,000 feet.

Spring-like weather continues to build as drier skies prevail late in the week. Highs will climb to nearly 60 in the city by Thursday or Friday.

This latest warming trend isn't expected to last forever, however.

Winter-like temperatures are expected by the end of the weekend and into next week. That's where afternoon highs will likely fall below average and snow elevations will drop in relation. The timeline and snow elevations remain unclear as of Tuesday morning, but a clearer picture will come together by the end of this week.
