Ravindra Jadeja did a grand gesture as he dedicated the ‘Player of the Match’ award to his wife Rivaba. The Indian all-rounder’s gesture came shortly after his father gave a controversial interview and gave some strong statements regarding the cricketer’s behaviour towards his family after marriage.
Jadeja played a pivotal role in India’s commanding victory in Rajkot, where they secured a remarkable 434-run win to take a 2-1 lead in the series at the Niranjan Shah Stadium. The all-rounder showcased his brilliance by scoring a century in the first innings and securing a five-wicket haul in the second. This victory marked India’s second win in the series, following an unexpected 28-run defeat in the first Test in Hyderabad.
“This is a special Man of the Match at my home ground. I would like to dedicate this award to my wife. She has been working hard behind the scenes, mentally. She always gives me confidence,” Jadeja said in a video posted by the BCCI.
Jadeja came in strong and took a firm stance to support his wife despite his father giving controversial comments
“The things mentioned in the dubious interview with Divya Bhaskar are meaningless and false. Those are one-sided comments that I deny them. The attempt to tarnish the image of my wife is improper and condemnable. I too have a lot to say but it is better that I don’t reveal those things in public,” Jadeja wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
Ravindra Jadeja was named as the Player of the match as he smashed a brilliant century in the first innings and then did wonders with the bowl which eventually opened a five-wicket haul for him. His stellar performance got India in a completely dominant position in the third Test against England.
