Scottish Premiership star Andy Halliday believes Celtic have lost the ruthless streak they had last season and have been more wasteful in the ongoing campaign.

 

Celtic fans have been left fuming following their side’s 1-1 draw at home against Kilmarnock last weekend.

 

With Rangers now leading the title race, some Celtic supporters are calling for Brendan Rodgers to leave for the prosaic nature of the football his team have been playing this season.

 

 

 

Halliday feels that Celtic fans are overreacting and the blame for Celtic’s problems this season cannot be attributed to any individual but is more of a collective failure.

 

He stressed that one of the biggest problems for Celtic this term has been their lack of ruthlessness that they had in the previous year.

 

 

The midfielder believes Celtic are not only being wasteful in the attacking third but are also committing the same mistakes in defence.

 

Halliday said on Clyde 1’s Superscoreboard: “I think calls for Rodgers to leave or walk away, are over the top for me.

 

 

“I don’t think Celtic’s issues can be pointed in one direction, whether that be the manager, the board or the players – it is spread across the board.

 

“The big thing is that they have seemed to have lost that ruthless streak they had at the start of the season and last year where if they go 1-0 up, they quickly get a second or create four chances and put one or two or three of them away.

 

“Now we see them being wasteful, not only in an attacking sense but in both boxes.”

 

Celtic are in desperate need of a win ahead of travelling to Motherwell next weekend.
