‘New fear unlocked’ people say as woman reveals disgusting reason you should clean your dishwasher filter every month
A WOMAN was left horrified after discovering that her kitchen was hiding a very dirty secret.
When Sarah Paiji Yoo checked her dishwasher filter, she was faced with a rather grim discovery.
In a clip shared to TikTok (@spaiji) she can be seen holding up the stomach-churning sight that greeted her – a washing machine filer clogged with dirt and grime, which was preventing it from cleaning her dishes properly.
So, if you’ve been wondering why your dishes aren’t getting clean after going through a thorough dishwasher cycle, then you may just want to listen up.
“This is why you need to clean your dishwasher filter every month…” she said.
She then went on to say how she used Blueland Powder dish soap and an old toothbrush to clean it up.
The post has since gone viral, garnering a whopping 1.7 million views and hundreds of comments from grossed out social media users.
“A new fear of mine has been unlocked. How do I even find this on my dishwasher!” asked one.
“I swear adulting needs a manual. I’ve lived in my rental for a year and didn’t know there was a filter?! I have to go figure out how to get it now,” a second penned.
A third noted: “I used to sell appliances and SO MANY PEOPLE were SHOCKED when I showed them the filter.”
Meanwhile, a fourth commented: “I hand wash so i’m glad i don’t have to deal with this!”
And it turns out, Sarah’s not the only one to make the rather grim discovery.
Fabulous previously told how she was left gagging when she saw how clogged up her dishwasher filter was.
The woman named Nina (@ninabean222) addressed her social media followers and asked: “I am the only one who didn’t know we’re supposed to be deep-cleaning our dishwashers?
“All of my dishes were coming out dirty even after cleaning so I decided to investigate.”
After pulling out the grim filter, she said: “Every time I think about the fact that I cleaned my dishes using this, it makes me gag.
“For anyone who doesn’t know, this part is called the filter, and every dishwasher has one. You should be deep-cleaning them monthly.”
The cleaning whizz revealed how she got it sparkling again in an instant using just two ingredients.
She simply added baking soda and white vinegar to her dishwasher and then set it on a hot cycle to ensure the inside was clean.
