Gary Neville believes that Tottenham Hotspur will be feeling the pressure now that Manchester United are gaining ground on them in the race for the top four.
Tottenham’s defeat to Wolves on Saturday saw them drop down to fifth place, with Villa leapfrogging them after their 2-1 win at Craven Cottage.
Ange Postecoglou had previously been insistent that Spurs would look to chase down the sides above them in the table until it was mathematically impossible for them to do so (Football.London).
However, Saturday’s result has made it quite clear that the Lilywhites are unlikely to chase down the top three and instead find themselves in a scrap for fourth place.
Man Utd registered their fourth consecutive Premier League win on Sunday, overcoming Luton Town 2-1, with the result taking the Red Devils to within three points of Tottenham.
Neville believes that both Villa and Spurs will be feeling the pressure, given the run of form that his former club are currently on.
The pundit said on his Sky Sports podcast: “You can feel Ten Hag is more confident in his team – I think he’ll fancy hunting down Tottenham and Villa for top four. They’ll be feeling the pressure. I’m not saying Man Utd will get there but there is a bit between their teeth.”

Man Utd are hitting form at the right time while it feels like Spurs are going in the other direction, with opposition teams now finding a clear template on how to make it difficult for the Lilywhites.
It is now up to Postecoglou and the coaching staff to perhaps make some tweaks and stay one step ahead of the opposition.
