'Put up or shut up': Analyst says Trump lawyers 'haven't delivered' goods on Fani Willis

CNN's Elie Honig wasn't persuaded by evidence presented at a court hearing that Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis should be disqualified from prosecuting Donald Trump.

The Georgia prosecutor and special investigator Nathan Wade, whose romantic relationship is at the center of the ongoing hearing, each testified Thursday that their personal affair began after he was hired to be on her team handling the racketeering case against former President Donald Trump and 18 of his co-defendants.

Among the accusations leveled against them are that they personally profited from his hiring, with allegations that the pair went on trips paid for by Wade.

Although they were unable to account for every dollar they spent on each other, the CNN legal analyst said he didn't hear enough to prove defense claims of corruption.

"This is put up or shut up time for the defendants, for Donald Trump and his co-defendants who've challenged Fani Willis," Honig said Friday.

"They made explosive allegations, it seemed there was something to them. I think Nathan Wade's testimony was questionable, but to this point, in my view, the defendants have not delivered what they've said they would deliver."

"First of all, there is an open question about when this relationship started," he added. "Thus far, the status quo as we head into today is both participants in the relationship, Fani Willis and Nathan Wade, say it started after Nathan Wade was hired. There's one witness [Robin Yeartie] ... who gave sort of general fuzzy testimony that she heard that it started earlier. That's not going to be enough.

"They need more to carry that burden. Then in the financial piece, and this is really the crux of the conflict of interest issue, they have shown only that there was some loose intermingling of finances and that cash was paid, but we don't have specifics as to amounts, and they need to really drill down if they don't deliver today.

"I think this motion [to disqualify] is going to fail."
