Trader Joe’s beauty section is really underrated – the $10 retinol is better than more expensive drugstore options
A BEAUTY enthusiast has sparked a rush to Trader Joe’s after being impressed by their range of skincare products.
She admitted that a $10 anti-aging serum took her by surprise when she saw how effective it was on her skin.
Erin Ruddy (@erin__ruddy) has over 4,900 followers on TikTok, where she shares budget-friendly beauty buys.
She filmed herself browsing the shelves at her local Trader Joe’s before revealing her honest opinion on their skincare range.
“Trader Joe’s beauty section is really underrated,” she said.
“Especially their retinol serum. It’s $10 and has 0.3% retinol.”
Erin picked up the brand’s Retinol Night Serum and began to show what it said on the packaging as she gushed about its effectiveness.
“I’ve experienced better results from this over more expensive drugstore options,” she said.
“I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was!
“It’s honestly one of my favorite OTC [over-the-counter] retinol!!”
Over 1,500 people liked the video and many viewers took to the comment section saying they were interested in trying the product.
“It has literally changed my skin in two weeks,” one person wrote.
“Heading there ASAP. Thanks for sharing,” another said.
Trader Joe’s Retinol Night Serum costs $9.99 on the brand’s website, where it states that it’s suitable for beginners and seasoned beauty enthusiasts.
They recommend applying it once or twice a week followed by a moisturizer for best results.
The product description says, “In simplest terms, our dermatologist-formulated Retinol Night Serum acts as an exfoliant, sloughing off dead skin cells as you sleep, to reveal a revitalized you come morning.”
As well as retinol, it contains “skincare superheroes like sodium hyaluronate, vitamins C & E, salicylic acid, and, of course, skin-soothing Baobab Seed Oil.”
Research cited in an article published by MedicalNewsToday shows retinol can protect against the breakdown of collagen.
Another study found a decrease in facial wrinkles after participants used retinol for more than 12 weeks.
