Man, 47, charged with murder after woman in her 60s found dead
A man has been charged with murder after a woman was found seriously injured in a home in Essex.
The victim, who is in her 60s, was found in the home by police and paramedics on Friday afternoon, but despite their best efforts she died at the scene.
Officers were called to Dorset Avenue in Great Baddow near Chelmsford, Essex, after receiving reports of a suspicious man. After speaking to the man, they rushed to a home in Readers Court where they found the woman.
Sebastian Compton, 47 of Readers Court, Chelmsford was arrested on Friday.
He’s now been charged with the woman’s murder and has been remanded in custody to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
Detective Chief Superintendent Rob Kirby said: ‘I’d like to reassure those living in the Great Baddow area that there is no wider threat to the community.
‘Although we have secured a charge, our investigation continues. I’d continue to ask anyone who has information or footage of any part of the incident, particularly in the areas of Readers Court or Dorset Avenue, to get in contact.’
