Car dealership which closed after less than two years now goes on sale for nearly £2million
A HUGE car dealership site that had been open for two years before closing down is set to sell for a mammoth fee.
The dealership announced last year that the doors would shut for good before handing out 100 redundancy notices.
The Halifax based Bravoauto site was one of eight plots closed down by owners Inchcape in November last year, and has had a £1.9million price tag slapped on it for potential buyers.
The sale is being run by estate agents Savills, who expect the huge figure to be reached when it’s eventually sold, reports CarDealer.
The site itself is said to come with a modern dealership, including a double height showroom, offices, ancillary and a workshop – measuring just under 19,000 square feet.
As well as the interior space, the exterior has four EV charging spaces, room for 154 motors and sits on 1.65 acre’s worth of space.
The decision was made to close the site last year after it failed to hall-in a profit high enough to continue operating.
Savills automotive team’s director, Kristina Simpson, said: “This is a modern dealership site surrounded by major towns and on a popular commuting road which could suit a variety of roadside uses.”
When the site was first announced to be closing they issued 100 redundancy notices to current staff – as wider industry execs noted broader issues within the used car supermarket sector.
Back in November, a spokesman for Inchcape said: “We continuously develop and optimise our go-to-market approach for Bravoauto and have made good progress since launching in 2021.
“Having analysed the returns in each site, we are taking steps to optimise our existing network, which will result in the closure of eight sites in November.
“We remain fully committed to our other nine Bravoauto sites and the Bravoauto model and are confident in their potential to deliver value.”
The news follows another major car dealership closed down after 30 years of business – blaming a popular car brand’s failures.
Even more sites dotted around the UK closed at the tail end of of last year, including a dealership which specialises in Fiats, Alfa Romeo, Abarth and Jeeps.
Nation-wide chain, Johnsons, announced the closure of a popular branch in Dorridge, Solihull.
At the time, it was reported that the firm’s management decided to close the outlet and service centre due to limitations on its capacity.
And finally, Underwoods Motoring announced that it will stop selling all new motors and closed down three popular shops blaming an “inevitable change”.
The firm has locations across Essex and Suffolk, but will now only sell used whips and provide garage services.
