Report: Chelsea expected to battle Tottenham for winger in the summer

Sport have claimed that Chelsea could challenge Tottenham Hotspur for Barcelona winger Raphinha when the transfer window opens in the summer.

Raphinha’s future at Camp Nou has been cast into doubt since Lamine Yamal has now moved ahead of the Brazilian in the pecking order.

At the start of this week, Relovo suggested that if Yamal continues to keep the former Leeds winger out of the Barca side over the next few months, the club could decide to cash in on the latter at the end of the season.

It is explained that although Raphinha would prefer to remain at the La Liga giants as he feels he has ‘adapted very well’ to the team and ‘feels comfortable in the city’, the Catalan club’s financial situation means that a sale cannot be ruled out.

In fact, the outlet alleged that Spurs had already reached out to the winger’s agent to discuss a potential switch to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the summer.

However, Sport have now said that Tottenham are not Raphinha’s only admirers in the Premier League, with Chelsea also keeping an eye on his situation.

In fact, it is alleged that the two London sides ‘would be willing to bid’ for the Brazil international as soon as he is put on the shop window.

It is explained that Barca would need to listen to offers for Raphinha to balance their books and it is pointed out that the Blues and the Lilywhites showed an interest in the attacker back when the Catalan club signed him from Leeds 18 months ago.

One would expect quite a few Premier League sides to potentially enter the race for Raphinha, given his previous exploits in the English top flight. I would not be surprised if the likes of Villa, Newcastle and Man Utd are also keeping tabs on the 27-year-old’s situation.
