Shiv Sena Rajya Sabha member Priyanka Chaturvedi expressed concerns about the decline of democracy in India, citing the suspension of 146 MPs during the winter session. She highlighted that 97% of political cases filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) are against opposition leaders, with a conviction rate of only 2-3%. Chaturvedi also criticized the increase in ED investigations since the BJP came to power in 2014. She questioned the clean chit given to those joining the BJP, referring to the case of Ajit Pawar. Furthermore, she raised issues of institutionalized corruption, the lack of elections in the Mumbai Municipal Corporation, and the suspension of MPs. Chaturvedi emphasized the importance of respecting democratic processes and listening to the people. She also mentioned the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, the Ram Mandir judgment, the concept of secularism, and an incident where a BJP MP called another MP a terrorist based on his religion.
