COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – One person has been hospitalized and cited for driving under the influence during a wrong-way crash early Tuesday morning.
According to Columbus police, the collision occurred on the west side of the city, on Interstate 270 South between Interstate 70 and the Roberts Road exits. There, a person driving a Ford Edge was traveling north in the southbound lanes and struck a semi-truck. Another car was involved in the wreck.
The semi-truck was not towing any cargo, but the front right fender and tire of the cab were damaged in the crash. The Ford Edge sustained extensive damage to the entire left side of the vehicle, including crumpled doors and broken windows.
The driver of the Ford was taken to Grant Medical Center and listed in stable condition. The driver was also cited for wrong way driving and operating a vehicle under the influence.
I-270 South was closed during the investigation and while crews cleared debris, but reopened after 2 a.m.
