HEARTBREAK is on the horizon for Todd Grimshaw as he waves goodbye to Moses Ekundayo this week.
But who is the Coronation Street character and is he set for a permanent exit? Here’s what you need to know.
He struck up a romance with Todd Grimshaw[/caption]Soap favourite Paul Foreman (portrayed by Peter Ash) has been struggling as his motor neurone disease symptoms take over.
In recent scenes of the ITV soap, the character was devastated to be losing his mobility and he eventually found out he only had a handful of months to live.
But as the builder slowly realised he would need consistent care and his mother Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove) was sentenced to three months in prison, his loved ones called for help.
Moses first rocked up the cobbles in late 2023 to take care of Paul.
As he settled in Weatherfield, ready for his new job, the newcomer caught the attention of Paul and Billy Mayhew’s friend, Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce).
The pair decided to explore their romantic potential in more recent scenes of the Manchester-based program and met up for a date.
However, this was ruined by Todd’s professional commitments as George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley) called him into work.
Despite this, the chemistry remains palpable between Todd and Moses.
But there’s a massive obstacle on their way.
Moses recently got on the wrong side of Bernie Winter after Paul was left in a vulnerable position alone.
Bernie complained that Moses was repeatedly late for his scheduled visits to Paul.
However, she regretted her actions when she learned that Moses was overworked and struggling to cope.
Despite her withdrawing her complaint, the carer found out soon after that he was suspended, thus unable to do his job.
This week, in the Rovers, a dejected Moses tells Todd that he’s moving to London to find another place of work.
Upon his introduction, soap boss Iain MacLeod always made it clear that Todd’s new love story would be short-lived.
But the door is left wide open for Moses.
“There’s a dalliance for Todd, but it arrives at quite a poor time. And the person with whom he has the connection is probably not ideal in terms of the situation that Todd meets them in”, Iain said.
“At this time, it’s only a little test drive of his relationship with this person.”
“It’s not very long running, but we thought that if we like what we see, it might go on to be long-running later on.”
Everything you need to know about Coronation Street
Since his Corrie debut, Moses has been portrayed by actor Michael Fatogun who is far from inexperienced.
The soap star kicked off his acting career in 2010 with a role in the film Hoods n Halos.
He has since appeared in multiple TV series and short films in the likes of Strays (2011), The T-Boy Show (2014), Dear Jesus (2014-2015) and Autopsy: The Last Hours Of (2016), The Emily Atack Show (2022), You & Me (2023), among many others.
Michael was also no stranger to the ups and downs of life in soapland prior to his first Coronation Street appearance.
The actor took on the role of Ben Galadima in 2018 for 26 episodes of Doctors before rocking up Emmerdale that same year.
But what’s next for him in Weatherfield?
Coronation Street airs every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8pm on ITV.
