Karren Brady is an ‘ice queen’ who ignores The Apprentice candidates – even when the cameras are off, claims ex-star
THE Apprentice’s Ryan-Mark Parsons has lifted the lid on Lord Alan Sugar’s assistant, Baroness Karren Brady.
The 2019 star says she’s known as the “Ice Queen” among candidates – and stays in character even when the cameras are off.
Speaking on his new podcast, Showbiz Unfiltered, Ryan-Mark slammed the 54-year-old for “ignoring” her BBC co-stars during filming.
He ranted: “I don’t really like Karren. I remember filming with her and she was just the ‘Ice Queen’. She reminded me of the Ice Witch in Narnia.
“She has a huge diamond ring, she’s so glamorous, she looks stunning… but she wouldn’t talk to us.
“Claude Littner was the best.”
However, despite spending long hours filming with the candidates, it’s Karren’s role on The Apprentice to judge Lord Sugar’s potential future business partners.
She reports back in the boardroom and helps her boss decide who should be fired.
Karren – who is worth around £93million – joined The Apprentice in 2009, replacing Lord Sugar’s former aide Margaret Mountford.
She now works alongside Tim Campbell, who took over from Claude Littner in 2021.
Speaking about the latest batch of candidates, Karren told the BBC: “I think it’s probably the most highly qualified set of candidates we’ve ever had.
“A pharmacist dentist, some already successful business owners.
“I think from that point of view, the standard is really very high, but with high standard and high achievers comes high ego!”
However, ex show star Ryan-Mark disagreed, insisting: “Since my series – and I’m not bias – it has gone downhill. The casting has gone so downhill.
“There’s so many similarities to the Love Island cast,” insists Ryan-Mark, who is the youngest Apprentice candidate to date.
“All of the girls are in bikinis, all of the guys are shirtless on Instagram displaying their six-packs. I don’t think you can tell the difference anymore between Love Island and The Apprentice.
“That was its USP – big personalities, but business-focused personalities. Now they’re just wanting to be reality famous.”
The eighteenth series The Apprentice kicks on February 1, 2024 on BBC One and the iPlayer.
