After years of planning, the Transport Department called the bids on January 11 for 100 buses for the Metropolitan Transport Corporation. The tender is also for operation and maintenance of the buses. The project cost is put at ₹170 crore. These buses will be operated from the Central depot on Pallavan Salai and the Adyar bus depot
