The Honourable Commissioner for Establishments and Training, Mr. Afolabi Ayantayo has charged Safety Officers to stay ahead by continuously upgrading their skills and knowledge in light of the changing world where new challenges and risks emerge regularly.
Ayantayo gave this charge on Monday at the training programme organised by the Ministry of Establishments and Training for Officers from the Lagos State Safety Commission, Fire and Safety Services, Building Control Agency and Physical Planning Permit Authority.
He said that accident investigation and risk assessment formed an important aspect of ensuring the safety and security of the citizens of the State, noting that Safety Officers play an important role in that respect.
The Commissioner stated that the training programme, with the theme, “Accident Investigation and Risk Management”, was designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to carry out thorough investigations and assessments which would enable them to identify potential hazards and implement proactive measures to mitigate risks.
Whilst appreciating the participants for their commitment to improving their knowledge in responding effectively to unforeseen challenges, he expressed confidence that the skills they acquire at the training would empower them to make informed decisions, instil confidence in the public and contribute to the overarching goal of creating a safer environment for the citizens.
