CORONATION Street fans think that have uncovered the ‘real identity’ of Dee-Dee’s boyfriend, Joel.
The suave solicitor has been enjoying a romance with Dee Dee for a few months and things appear to have been going rather smoothly for the loved-up pair.
However, little is known about Joel’s background and fans have been speculating that there is more to come from him than meets the eye.
Amid Ed’s gambling problems and the breakdown of the Bailey’s marriage, some Coronation Street fans think they have worked out just exactly what he has been hiding.
They have linked him to notorious criminal and Street villain, Harvey Gaskell.
Fans know that Harvey is in prison from his reign of terror over Weatherfield although he has now formed an unlikely partnership with Adam Barlow to take down his brother Damon Hay.
Damon has a good working relationship with Ed and was with him when the builder’s yard went up in flames.
It has now seen them put two and two together to suspect at a potential link between Joel and Harvey.
One fan suggested that he could be Harvey’s inside man on the street.
It would explain his relationship with Dee Dee and desire to be close to the Bailey family in order to get closer knowledge of Damon’s whereabouts.
Adam recently took over as Harvey’s solicitor, despite him being insistent that he already had another solicitor working for him – could Harvey have been alluding to Joel?
Writing online, one fan speculated: “When Harvey told Adam he already had a solicitor it got me thinking he is Harvey’s mole on the street.”
Not only that, some viewers have touted the idea that he could have played a role in the show’s shock fire.
Another viewer added: “There was one episode where he was not happy for Ed to be around the flat nearly all the time.
“So I think he set fire to the builders yard as he wanted Ed out of the flat to be alone with Dee Dee. And he thought Ed could claim on the insurance and get back on his own two feet. But it looks like it has backfired if you don’t mind the pun guys.”
With speculation mounting, another suggested: “I reckon Damon could somehow be involved.”
