Trump family lawyer Clifford Robert lashed out this week at a court-appointed monitor who flagged "errors" and "incomplete" information in the Trump Organization's financial disclosures.
As reported by The Messenger, Robert accused Barbara Jones, who was appointed by Judge Arthur Engoron to oversee the Trump Organization's finances, of unfairly smearing Trump with an "unabashedly self-serving" report that she was using to shake down the legal system to justify charging "exorbitant fees" for her services.
Robert further went on to compare Jones the police inspector in the Victor Hugo novel "Les Miserables" who overzealously investigates the novel's protagonist for stealing a loaf of bread.

"Further oversight is unwarranted and will only unjustly enrich the monitor as she engages in some 'Javert' like quest against the defendants," the attorney argued.
Of course, as The Messenger points out, the Trump Organization is not accused of stealing a mere loaf of bread but rather has been found liable for years' worth of systematic financial fraud.
Judge Engoron is expected to soon decide whether to bar the former president permanently from the New York real estate business, which was where he started the business empire that would pave the way for his political career.
