Manchester United forward Antony is set to remain at Old Trafford at least until the end of the season, according to his agent, Junior Pedroso (h/t Fabrizio Romano).
The 23-year-old registered his first goal contributions this season in the 4-2 FA Cup fourth-round win over League Two side Newport County.
Antony set up Bruno Fernandes to break the deadlock inside the opening ten minutes before bagging a second-half goal of his own, tucking home a rebound from Luke Shaw’s right-footed curler that cannoned back off the post.
The Brazilian’s 68th-minute strike was his first for United since he notched a goal and assist in the 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest back in April last year, ending an abysmal 31-game goal drought.
United manager Erik ten Hag has previously admitted that Antony has found things tough this season, leading to speculation over the Brazilian’s future.
Antony is one of several players on United’s chopping block and has reportedly been offered to the Saudi Pro League.
United are optimistic about recouping a large chunk of the £85 million they paid to sign him from Ajax in the summer of 2022, slapping a £50m price tag on the winger.
However, the player’s agent has debunked speculation linking him with a move to the Middle East, insisting his client is focused on improving his consistency in the final third.
“We’ve not received any communication from Man United about Antony and potential transfer for January or summer window,” Pedroso said.
“Antony has his head focused on doing his best for Manchester and improving his numbers.”
Antony will be keen to reclaim his spot in Ten Hag’s starting line-up when the Red Devils visit Wolverhampton Wanderers on Thursday.
United have strung together a three-match unbeaten run (W2, D1) and will be eager to keep the streak going against a tricky Wolves side who are unbeaten in their last four games (W3, D1).
