Good evening all,
Just prior to Christmas I bought the car above which was campaigned in the Willhire 24hr race at Snetterton. I am aware of a fair chunk of the history as the car came with a substantial file, however I am keen to hear from anyone who can shed more light on what is quite an interesting car.
The car was built on a new 2.8i chassis as I believe that the owner had Ford dealership in addition to the Willhire business that was the principle sponsor of the event.
The car (sponsored by British Telecom finished 3rd in 1985 with four of the top five cars being 2.8i Capris. (a 190 Cosworth Merc finished 2nd).
I am told that the car was re-shelled into a motorsport chassis in its early life following a shunt that I have no history of.
In 2002 the car was fitted with a new 4.5 TVR V8 along with various other upgrades by Robin J Clarkson (a Land Rover specialist) in Skipton N Yorks. The car still has this engine and consequently sounds spectacular!
There are numerous pictures in the file of the car at hillclimb events as well as track days at the Nurburgring and Spa.
I am certain that there will be many of you with some recollection of this car and I look forward to hearing from you.
I will share some images and links shortly.
Regards,
Ian
