A HOLISTIC health practitioner has shared her recipe for homemade moisturizer.
The star ingredient made her skin so soft and has so many benefits.
But it’s a controversial choice and some commenters worried it might be stinky.
Ella (@growwithella), who has 323,000 followers on TikTok, was quick to reassure them.
Beef tallow “has a minimal scent,” she said. “But you can add vanilla to mask it if you prefer.”
She swears by her homemade tallow moisturizer.
“This moisturizer is a lifesaver, especially in those summer months where you get a bit too much sun,” she said in her post.
“The way I’m conscious about what food I put in my body is the same way I’m conscious about what I put on my skin.”
She continued: “What we put on our skin is absorbed into our bloodstream.
“So it’s important to know what ingredients go into everyday beauty products if you’re prioritizing your health.”
It gave her the impetus to find her healthy beauty potions: “This is why I like to make a homemade moisturiser,” she explained.
“It is so much more potent and wonderful for your skin. You know exactly what you’re putting in.”
Into a container, she added: one cup of grass-fed pasture-raised beef tallow, one tablespoon of vitamin E oil, one tablespoon of olive oil, and one tablespoon manuka honey.
She then blended all the ingredients into a smooth mix.
“It makes my skin so freaking soft. Beef tallow is our star ingredient,” she confessed, listing its many attributes.
“It is moisturizing, hydrating and nutrient-rich. It is also anti-inflammatory and it’s also highly compatible with your skin’s natural oils.”
Vitamin E oil was no slouch either: “This is super anti-oxidant rich and can help repair and rejuvenate the skin,” she wrote. “It can even help reduce the risk of sunburn.
Next, it was another edible ingredient: “Olive oil because we’re all trying to age like J.Lo. In all seriousness, it is wonderful for the skin.”
Finally, manuka honey, has some “great anti-bacterial properties.”
Get your batch ready for the warm season: “This is my absolute essential for the summer especially when I’m in the sun a lot.
“It has literally helped turn every single sunburn into a tan,” she said.
“You can put it on your body, your lips, on your face. There is no better moisturizer.”
Commenters vouched for the effectiveness of beef tallow.
“Coming from an aesthetician, I love this. Just make sure that vitamin E oil is okay for tropical use otherwise it can be clogging,” said this person.
“Yes, tallow makes you glow,” was the experience of one user.
Another person was a big fan: “I use Van Man’s Tallow and Honey Balm on my skin and it’s legit helped my face and acne more than Accutane ever did.”
And there was no mistaking this person’s sentiments: “Beef tallow hands down has been the best thing for my skin.”
