GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene just made an endorsement that's bigger than the individual she's promoting, a reporter pointed out on Saturday.
Greene, who has already been on the rocks with her former House Freedom Caucus colleagues since she was reportedly kicked out of the group of far-right lawmakers, is now signaling even more distance between them, according to Mica Soellner of Punchbowl News.
Soellner, who covers the House of Representatives for the outlet, pointed to Greene's recent endorsement of Tim Sheehy.
"I’m thrilled to endorse the next Senator from Montana, Tim Sheehy! Tim is a Navy SEAL and successful businessman, firefighter, rancher, but most important, he’s a husband and a father," Greene said Friday. "Tim Sheehy is the conservative political outsider we need in the U.S. Senate to help drain the swamp, end the illegal invasion at the southern border, and put America First."

Greene continued:
"2024 is gearing up to be the toughest and nastiest election in our lifetime. We need fierce America First warriors to take back the Senate and we can’t depend on proven losers to make that happen. We need to win in Montana to take back the Senate for President Trump, and Tim won’t blow it like the last nominee. Tim is a winner!"
As Soellner noted, this endorsement cut off a potential run from one of the members of the House Freedom Caucus.
"MTG endorses Tim Sheehy for Senate in Montana. This comes ahead an expected announcement from Freedom Caucus member Matt Rosendale," Soellner reported. "Shows Greene’s further split from HFC."
