Two people were killed after they were ejected from their vehicles during a crash late Thursday night on Interstate 95 in Fairfield involving two cars and a tractor-trailer.
The crash was reported Thursday just before midnight on I-95 North just before Exit 22, according to Connecticut State Police.
William Foster, 75, of Bridgeport was driving a Chevrolet Impala in the center lane when the car spun out “for an unknown reason,” entered the median and struck a concrete jersey barrier, state police said. The Impala was left disabled in the center lane of three following the collision.
A BMW 300 approaching in the center lane, driven by a 32-year-old Virginia woman, struck the Chevrolet, ejecting Foster from the vehicle and into the road, according to state police. Immediately after, a tractor-trailer driven by 70-year-old Fred Eugene Nimmon of Aspers, Pennsylvania, also struck the Chevrolet before entering the median and colliding with the concrete jersey barrier, state police said. The collision caused Nimmon to be ejected from the truck and into the median of I-95 South, state police said.
According to state police, both Foster and Nimmon were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the BMW was taken to Bridgeport Hospital for minor injuries.
The State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad responded to the scene to assist with the ongoing investigation.
