A HEAVILY pregnant Whitney Dean is mowed down by a car in a first look at actress Shona McGarty’s exit storyline from the soap.
The star has been pictured filming what could be her final ever scenes on the BBC show alongside co-stars Natalie Cassidy, James Farrar and returning show legend Patsy Palmer.
In the dramatic scenes, which took place on a night shoot, Whitney can be seen running through the streets as she appears to chase after a mysterious young girl.
By the community centre, the young girl appears to be looking for food in the bins and Whitney attempts to help her.
Refusing her help, the girl runs off on to a down-trodden estate as Whitney, Bianca, Zack and Sonia all follow suit and chase after her.
Soon, trouble arises when the group come across the girl’s drug-addicted mother and a huge violent scuffle breaks out.
It leaves Whitney with tears in her clothes as she continues to make her way through the estate and chase the girl.
Running across a road, a showdown between the two occurs and danger is just around the corner.
Spotting an oncoming car, Whitney leaps to protect the young girl and pushes her out of the way.
Tragically, the heavily pregnant character is then hit full force by the vehicle, sparking speculation that this could be how she meets her end.
Looking on in horror, Zack and Sonia can be seen open-mouthed and teary-eyed after Whitney is ploughed by the motor.
Viewers know that Shona has been expected to film her exit scenes for the soap any day now so could the car accident have killed the popular character off?
Actress Patsy Palmer recently confirmed she would be back to help facilitate Whitney’s exit storyline and with the actress also being snapped away on set, fans mind’s will be left racing that the end could be extremely bleak for Whitney.
While Shona filmed the run up to the accident, a brave stunt woman took over for the actual collision, wearing a dark haired wig and matching outfit to the actress.
The BBC declined to comment when contacted by The Sun Online.
