Three universities tied to Pakistan's military, including the National Defence University, Bahria University, and Air University, were shut down in Islamabad due to security threats. This comes as Pakistan prepares for general elections amid political, economic, and security crises. The country has experienced a rise in militant attacks targeting police and soldiers. Thousands of auxiliary security forces will be deployed in the capital and northwestern region near Afghanistan during the elections. Last year, casualties reached a six-year high, with over 1,500 people killed.
