Scotty says although it may not seem like the time to check air conditioning refrigerant gas in the middle of winter, it is.
He said air conditioning helps to dry out the air, which stops the car windshield from fogging up.
In a YouTube clip, the expert says: “I’m adding refrigerant to my car in the winter, have I lost my mind?
“Well I may be losing my mind but not in this case because when you turn your heat on in the winter most modern cars automatically turn the heat and the air conditioning on.
“The air conditioning is super dry air that keeps the windshield from fogging up. So if your air conditioner isn’t working you’ll only have hot air and not the dry air so your windshield will fog up.
“So if you’re low on refrigerant you might have to add some even in the winter.”
Scotty often shares his hacks and top tips to save motorists some big money on repair bills and car maintenance.
