A Waterbury man has been charged with allegedly waving a gun at a woman during a road rage incident that started in Cheshire and ended on Interstate 84 in Waterbury, police said.
Luis Enrique Torres-Diaz, 23, has been charged with first-degree threatening displaying a firearm, reckless driving, second-degree breach of peace, and first-degree reckless endangerment, according to Connecticut State Police.
State police said the incident started on Interstate 691 in Cheshire and ended with two vehicles pulled over on I-84 near Exits 25 and 23.
Troopers responded to the highway about 2 p.m. and spoke with the driver of a gray Nissan that was stopped on the right shoulder near Exit 23. She told troopers that she had been “involved in a road rage incident” and the other driver involved had waved a handgun at her, state police said.
State police identified the driver as Torres-Diaz, who was driving a black Subaru that was stopped near Exit 25.
Torres-Diaz admitted to displaying the gun during the incident. He was arrested by state police and taken to Troop I in Bethany.
Torres-Diaz was released on a $5,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in court in Meriden on Feb. 9, records show.
