A Johnstown man has been arrested following a stolen vehicle investigation, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
JOHNSTOWN, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A Johnstown man has been arrested following a stolen vehicle investigation, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. Devon Morby, 27, is facing multiple charges.
On January 20, police received the report of a vehicle being stolen out of Johnstown. Shortly thereafter, a patrol officer observed the stolen car traveling westbound on State Highway 5 in Palatine.
Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver of the car did not comply and instead continued westbound. Upon the arrival of police reinforcements, a "spike strip" tire deflation device was deployed, which effectively disabled the vehicle, bringing the car to a stop.
The driver, identified as Morby, was then taken into custody without further incident. He now faces the following charges:
Morby was turned over to the Johnstown Police Department for charges stemming from the original theft.
