While leaving his mother-in-law's funeral, former President Donald Trump and his wife, Melania, were seen taking separate cars. This prompted relentless speculation on social media as to why the ex-president wasn't riding with his grieving wife.
Liberal activist Ron Filipowski tweeted a short video of the Trumps walking to a black SUV, where a Secret Service agent held the passenger-side rear door open for Melania. After she climbed inside, she appeared to say something to her husband, who said something brief and inaudible, turned around and got inside the car behind his wife.
"Separate cars," Filipowski posted to X. He responded to his original post with a separate photo of what appears to be Melania coldly grimacing at Trump before getting in her car.
"Imagine getting friendzoned by your wife," tweeted influencer and cybersecurity expert Travis Allen.
X user Lyle Scout noted that Melania appeared to make the decision to ride by herself on the spot, as the former president stood by the vehicle apparently waiting to sit next to her.
Liberal social media personality Carla Nicol thought Melania's coldness could be due to the ongoing E. Jean Carroll defamation trial, tweeting "No hug or kiss goodbye. Could be Melania was unhappy he was rage tweeting about a woman he sexually abused during the whole service?"
Journalist and podcaster Roland S. Martin opined that Melania "detests him so much she won’t even ride with his a--."
Cranford, New Jersey deputy mayor Terrance Curran asserted that Trump's own wife not wanting to ride in the same car as her spouse was particularly revealing.
"Those closest to him know the truth," Curran wrote. "He’s not a good person and certainly doesn’t care about anyone else but himself."
