Once again it was a busy weekend of the Girls at Old Wesley.
Our Under 14 started Saturday off with a Metro League visit to Greystones, after a couple of training sessions after the break the girls enjoyed their fair share of possession at the start of the game working the phases and gaining valuable metres each time. Some good team work and finding space in attack allowed the girls to find their rhythm. Unfortunately the end result wasnt to be for the girls, who continue to make progress as they take part in their first competitive league season since moving up from the minis. We go again and continue to make progress and with only three players moving up to the U16 age group next season, we are in it for the long run.
Meanwhile our Under 10’s took to the field again yesterday for our return visit to Old Belvedere for another half time mini game. Once again a crowd of around 100 watched the girls play what is already becoming a popular match during half time of the AIL match and with some exciting play in both attack and defence its proving a big carrot for the girls (or is it the fizzy drinks and crisps afterwards).
On Sunday the girls returned to their mixed groups and travelled to Clondalkin and Old Belvedere to continue to develop their skills and experience of rugby.
Training continues for both age groups this Wednesday at Ballycorus from 6.30pm. Cant wait for the rest of the season.
