A HAIRCARE pro has spilled the details as to how to give those locks some love and prevent breakage.
The certified trichologist warned that skipping her bedtime advice could damage strands.
Taylor Rose (@thehealthyhur) filmed herself sharing her tips in a video on TikTok.
“Are you damaging your hair while sleeping?” she asked.
She advised that bedtime could be the most crucial time to take care of hair.
“You could be causing a ton of accidental damage to your hair during sleep,” she said.
“Here is how you should wear your hair for ultimate protection, from a certified trichologist.
“The best option overall is to wear a satin bonnet to bed with your hair loose within the bonnet,” she added.
A satin sleep bonnet is available by Edoneery on Amazon for as low as $8.99.
“This prevents both traction, alopecia, and breakage from friction,” she said.
“If you aren’t into the bonnet look, opt for a satin pillowcase and wear your hair in a loose braid secured with a satin scrunchie.
“If you have short hair, leaving your hair down is fine if you have a satin pillowcase.
“If you are for some reason unable to use a satin pillowcase or bonnet, a loose braid or bun secured with a silk scrunchie is your best option,” she added.
The video drew in many viewers who shared their thoughts on the haircare tips.
“Yes, this has helped, I know, sleep with a satin pillowcase and a silk scrunchie,” one wrote.
“Sis, forget the satin. I bought a silk pillowcase on Amazon for $40 and a silk scrunchie for $15. So much softer and nicer than satin,” another added.
