Taylor Swift seemingly wore a necklace that honored Kobe Bryant and made a statement about her success

Taylor Swift is back on her Easter egg game.

On Thursday night, the musician was photographed leaving Electric Lady Studios in New York City.

While it's unclear what Swift was working on at the recording spot, she seemingly made a bold statement through her clothes and accessories.

To complement her athleisure outfit, Swift wore sunglasses, small earrings, and a gold necklace with a round pendant.

The latter piece was studded with diamonds and engraved with the phrase "Bet on yourself," a quote from the late basketball star Kobe Bryant.

The limited-edition necklace was created by Zoë Chicco in collaboration with Vanessa Bryant and the Mamba & Mambacita Sports Foundation, a nonprofit organization that honors the legacies of Kobe and their late daughter Gianna Bryant.

Swift wore the necklace with a $108 Adidas jacket, a green top, and matching sneakers from the Ivy Park x Adidas collaboration.

Swift is a longtime friend of the Bryant family and was close with the athlete before he died in January 2020.

Kobe once presented her with a banner for the most sold-out performances at the home venue of the Los Angeles Lakers during her 1989 World Tour in 2015, and he often spoke fondly of Swift in interviews.

Swift has since remained close with his family, who attended her Eras Tour in sentimental outfits. Swift also hugged his daughter Bianka during the show.

But Swift's necklace is likely more than a tribute to the Bryant family.

It also appears to mirror her thoughts on her life and career success.

As fashion blogger Sarah Chapelle pointed out on her Swift-focused Instagram page, the musician seemingly referenced Kobe's famous quote while being interviewed as the Time Person of the Year in 2023.

"We met with all the studios, and we met with all the streamers, and we sized up how it was perceived and valued, and if they had high hopes and dreams for it," she told the publication about her Eras Tour concert film. "Ultimately, I did what I tend to do more and more often these days, which is to bet on myself."

And that's not to mention how Swifties have been searching for meaning in the green color scheme of the "Anti-Hero" singer's recent wardrobe.

She wore a glimmering green gown from Gucci at the Golden Globes earlier this month and then sported three back-to-back green outfits in New York City in the following days — the above athleisure look included.

Again, it's unclear what exactly Swift is up to, but one thing is certain: Her reputation as a style star remains intact.
