I am a huge Toronto Raptors fan due to my mother being Canadian and for years we were pretty much the laughing stock of the NBA. The Raptors are owned my MLSE (Larry Tanenbaum) and have recent hired Keith Pelley as the new CEO.
In early 2010’s MLSE hired TL to transform MLSE’s teams (Raptors, Toronto FC and Maple Leafs). He did exactly that, before leaving to set up OVG. Since his appointment the Raptors won their first ever NBA championship in 2019 and TFC won the MLS a couple years before. The Leafs are massively improved also.
All in all, this is great, and further confirms my initial thoughts that Wagner knows people from MLSE.
