Kate Hudson Reveals the Non-Negotiable Way She Gets Quality Time With Her Kids — & Its Added Health Benefits
Kate Hudson may be a working mom, but she’s all about maintaining healthy boundaries so she can spend quality time with her kids.
During a recent chat with People, the How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days icon shed a little light on how she balances motherhood and her career. “I am busy, I am really busy, but my day is done at 5:00 p.m., and I am in that kitchen making them something,” Hudson said of her two sons, Ryder, 20, and Bingham, 12, and daughter Rani, 5.
The actress explained that establishing the kitchen as their daily gathering place has not only ensured her family spends quality time together but also that her kids develop a healthy dynamic with food. Husdon told the outlet, “My kids’ relationship to food is healthy because I get them in the kitchen. I get them chopping with me, we talk about what herbs are.” She added, “I think it’s important to really get your kids involved in the things that you’re doing.”
With everything on her plate outside of motherhood, it’s not always easy for Hudson to carve out meaningful moments with her kids. She’s learned to be gentle with herself, though, and she encourages other parents to give themselves grace when needed as well.
“It’s hard to get it together when you are a working mom, and it was especially hard when I was a single mom,” the Almost Famous star said. “But at the end of the day, I want people to not put so much pressure on themselves.”
The kitchen is a bonding site for several generations of Hudson’s family. In November 2023, the Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery actress and her mom, Goldie Hawn, baked homemade pies and other dishes alongside Rani for Thanksgiving. Hudson shared a video on Instagram in which the three generations of women harmoniously bustled about the cooking space as they prepped the meal for the rest of their family. “Still grateful ???????????? #familyfirstalways,” Hudson captioned the cozy compilation of clips.
