No. 7 San Ramon Valley 64, Dougherty Valley 61
San Ramon Valley withstood a late charge from Dougherty Valley to beat the host Wildcats in an East Bay Athletic League opener for both teams on Tuesday night.
Matthew Diekmann scored 23 points and Luke Isaak added 17 points for the Wolves. SRV also got 13 points from Mason Thomas as the Danville school improved to 14-3 while stretching its winning streak to 10.
Aadi Malali, a spot-up long-distance shooter on Dougherty Valley’s North Coast Section Open Division championship team last season, led the new-look Wildcats with 19 points.
Kenny Cloud chipped in with 15 points and Jayden Doty finished with 12 points for Dougherty Valley, which fell to 11-6.
When EBAL play resumes on Friday, SRV will play host to California and Dougherty Valley will be at home to face Granada.
No. 1 Salesian 63, St. Mary’s-Berkeley 26
Salesian continued to roll through the Tri-County Athletic League Rock Division, this time overpowering St. Mary’s with superb defense and balanced scoring.
Aaron Hunkin-Claytor (13 points), Alvin Loving (11 points) and Zander Jimenez (11 points) scored in double figures for the Pride, who won for the 16th time in 17 games this season. Salesian is 3-0 in league play.
St. Mary’s fell to 7-8, 0-3.
Jaden Jones (seven points) and Jonathan Fernandez (six points) were the leading scorers for St. Mary’s.
Salesian plays at St. Patrick-St. Vincent on Friday before facing Archbishop Riordan in the MLK Classic at De La Salle on Monday.
No. 5 Archbishop Mitty 70, St. Francis 41
Mitty, playing at home in San Jose, cruised past St. Francis in West Catholic Athletic League play as Gavin Ripp scored 24 points and Nathan d’Abreu Noronha finished with 15 points to lead the way.
The Monarchs also got 10 points from Tyler Jones and eight from Caeden Hutcherson as they improved to 9-4, 3-0.
St. Francis, which got 10 points from Evan Lee, fell to 3-9, 1-2.
Milpitas 46, Palo Alto 41
Milpitas rallied from a 23-14 halftime deficit to win on the road over Palo Alto in a Santa Clara Valley Athletic League De Anza Division game.
Dylan Nguyen scored 13 points and Jacob Wrencher finished with 12 points to lead Milpitas, which improved to 11-3 overall and 2-0 in the league.
Palo Alto fell to 11-4, 2-1.
Jorell Clark had 15 points for the Vikings, who had won their previous 12 games against Milpitas.
Palo Alto led 28-24 after three quarters but was outscored 22-13 over the final eight minutes.
No. 1 Archbishop Mitty 83, No. 16 St. Francis 27
It was another dominant showing by Mitty as the nation’s top-ranked team scored 49 points in the first half on its way to a rout of St. Francis in WCAL play.
McKenna Woliczko (14 points), Elana Weisman (13 points), Tee McCarthy (13 points) and Morgan Cheli (11 points) led the way as the Monarchs improved to 12-0, 2-0.
St. Francis, which got 10 points from Paige Spencer, is 10-3, 1-2.
No. 11 Branham 61, Christopher 34
Branham, playing on the road in Gilroy, roared to a double-digit cushion in the first quarter and never looked back as the Bruins handed Christopher its first loss this season.
Gina Shim (14 points), Jaden Obedencio (12 points) and Quinn Godfrey (12 points) led Branham.
Kaycee Carrasco (12 points), Nat Javier (nine points) Frenchy Falvey (six points) were Christopher’s top scorers.
Branham improved to 11-1 overall and 1-0 in the Blossom Valley Athletic League Mt. Hamilton Division.
Christopher is 14-1, 0-1.
No. 18 Evergreen Valley 62, Pioneer 40
Ryka Aprameyan scored half of her team’s points — 31 — to lead the Cougars to a victory over Pioneer in a BVAL Mt. Hamilton opener.
Evergreen Valley improved to 9-5.
Madison Fujii had 18 points for Pioneer, which slipped to 8-3.
