A federal judge ruled last month that college student-athletes who have transferred more than once will now be permitted to compete immediately through at least the end of the 2023-2024 academic year.
NCAA rules have previously required multi-time transfers to sit out a year of competition at their new institution unless granted a waiver for immediate competition.
As the Associated Press reports, a lawsuit was filed by a coalition of states suing the NCAA, alleging that the “transfer rule’s waiver process violates federal antitrust law.”
This ruling applies to all winter and spring sports, including rowing.
