His voice left judges Davina McCall, Rita Ora, Jonathan Ross and Mo Gilligan clueless and they were stunned when he took off his costume to reveal himself.
Cook Ainsley said he was tempted to take on the charts following his win.
Ainsley said: “It’s fabulous to be Christmas number one at Christmas, especially with the Masked Singer.
“What does next year hold? Christmas number one? Maybe we’ll come back and do it all over again.”
He added: “My father was an entertainer and when you grow up with that, it’s kind of in your genes and I loved the idea of coming on here and being able to perform for everybody. It’s in the blood.”
During the episode Ainsley was mistaken for fellow chef James Martin as well as cricketer Darren Gough.
He said: There were a few wild guesses in there, but they didn’t get the right one.
“It’s amazing how often all of the judges turn around and say, ‘I think it’s Ainsley Harriet,’ and the one time that I turn up they call me Darren Gough.
“Can you believe it? And James Martin. He’s much better looking than me, isn’t he? That lovely hair.”
