ITV viewers were left in tears as Kate Garraway appeared in a pre-recorded show filmed before her husband Derek Draper’s heart attack.
The Good Morning Britain presenter is by his bedside this Christmas with their two young children as he remains gravely ill.
Fans were emotional as they watched her sing Stay Another Day alongside her GMB co-stars Laura Tobin, Alex Beresford, Charlotte Hawkins and Dr Amir Khan.
The song, by East 17, was dedicated to Alex’s friend Martin who took his own life.
“You just wish you had one more day in case you could have said something to make them change their mind,” he said tearfully.
Fans rushed to send their best wishes to Kate, with one saying: “I just wanted let you know I’m thinking of you and Derek tonight. Always have hope and I’ll include you in my prayers tonight.”
Another said: “I wanted to message you but didn’t know what to say when your situation is so horrible.
“The only thing I can say is have the best time you can, our thoughts are with you always. Stay strong.”
Sharing pictures from behind the scenes, Charlotte told her followers: “I have to say it was a big leap to sing on stage live in front of @iamwill @aleshaofficial @adamlambert @mewossy but it was for a brilliant cause, it’s part of @britaingettalking to bring people together and improve mental health.
“And it was such a great weekend filming with @kategarraway @lauratobinweather @alexberesfordtv @doctoramirkhan which brought us closer together, we all had time to chat which was so special.
“I hope you enjoy watching – our aim was to brighten up your Christmas so I hope we have at least put a smile on your faces with our singing!!
“Get singing, get talking, make those connections with others as it can make a huge difference.”
