TEAMtalk have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur will turn their attention to other alternatives if they do not receive encouragement in their pursuit of Jean-Clair Todibo.
Spurs reportedly made their first move for Todibo earlier this week, with Fabrizio Romano reporting on his YouTube channel on Wednesday that the North London club has reached out to the player along with Nice over the possibility of a January deal to bolster Ange Postecoglou‘s defensive options.
Romano stated that Tottenham want the deal to be completed swiftly and have no intention of dragging the negotiations until the end of January.
This claim has now been backed up by TEAMtalk, who state that unless Spurs are prepared to move on to other centre-backs if they cannot get the deal sorted quickly.
The report says that Tottenham will not waste time if the negotiations prove difficult and are prepared to put Todiobo on hold until later in the year.
Ange Postecoglou’s men are thought to be keen on making a new defensive addition by the middle of January, with Everton’s Ben Godfrey, Bournemouth’s Lloyd Kelly, Benfica’s Morato, Fulham’s Tosin Adarabioyo and Genoa’s Radu Dragusin also on their radar.
The publication adds that Todibo is keen on a move to the Premier League but Nice might not want to deal quickly as they are challenging Paris Saint-Germain at the top of Ligue 1.
TEAMtalk also suggest that Spurs are prepared to push towards the £40m mark for the French international, with the financial element not thought to be the Lilywhites’ main concern.

Back in the summer, Spurs swiftly turned their attention to Guglielmo Vicario and Micky van de Ven when deals for their first-choice targets, David Raya and Edmond Tapsoba, appeared to be dragging out.
It seems like the club will adopt a similar startegy in January rather than waiting until the end of the window to address key areas.
