A FASHIONISTA has revealed she encountered a problem when she wore a viral mesh top to a bar at Christmas.
She had so many wardrobe malfunctions after sporting a number from Shein.
TikToker Nikki (@nikkiellisx) created a video after her friend’s top got caught on nearly everything while they were celebrating the holidays.
“PSA the mesh diamanté top is pretty but problematic,” the TikToker captioned her video.
In the clip, Nikki showed how her friend’s top was getting caught on metal handbag straps.
“Girls if you’re wearing the viral mesh diamanté top this Christmas,” she wrote on the post, “Be prepared to be a problem.”
Her friend wrestled with at least two bags as she tried to free her mesh top.
Nikki didn’t provide a link for the top, but dupes are plentiful on Shein — as long as you don’t mind being potentially “problematic.”
There’s a sheer fishnet metallic top, which retails for $12.41, and there’s a beaded rhinestone coverup, which costs $12.99.
Mesh tops first saw a resurgence in 2021, with Vogue deeming they were “back” in a February 2022 article.
The current draw to mesh is that it marries comfort and style.
“I love the versatility in terms of being able to make something that is empowering and sexy, yet comfortable,” Aune Collections designer Xenab Lone told Vogue.
“The fact that mesh feels like a second skin and can be layered under or over garments is great,” she told the publication.
In 2024, mesh won’t just be worn as a top.
Sheer skirts and bottoms will have their moment, according to Who What Wear.
“The transparent trend has been dominating for the past few seasons,” the publication said.
