There's only one thing to do when a controversial former president — who faces four criminal charges linked to accusations of election interference, top secret documents stored in Florida ballrooms and hush money paid to an adult film star — launches a new campaign:
Round up the jokes that made you laugh the most.
Let's do this.
1. The Lincoln Project and the blue pills
The Lincoln Project this year crafted several ads specifically designed to troll the ex-president by airing them only on Fox networks. The tone is not what you'd call high-brow. The latest ad calls Trump "weak" and shows what appears to be Viagra falling into a man's hand.
2. Stephen Colbert and the whipped cream in a can
When "The Late Show" host Stephen Colbert announced to his audience a New York grand jury voted to indict Trump, the crowd went wild. But their applause was nothing compared to Colbert's response, who celebrated with a baseball hat full of ice cream and a can of whipped cream.

3. Seth Meyers and all of the news.
Seth Meyers used the excuse of a months-long writers' and actors strike to provide a super-speed update on all the Trump news he missed. All of it.

4. Jordan Klepper and the "Never surrender" surrender merch.
Among the more hilarious moments of 2023 was when the "Daily Show" comedian Jordan Klepper explained to a Donald Trump supporter the problem with pairing his mugshot — which captured the moment the former president surrendered to police — with the words "Never surrender."

5. The Good Liars and tough questions about crying
The comedic pair went out to Trump rallies this year to ask supporters how they felt about their candidate's criminal cases. When Davram Stiefler asked a man in a "Trump 2020: Making liberals cry again" shirt, "but if you had to say, who's been crying about the 2020 election, who would it be?" that man did not appear to have an answer.

6. Jonathan Capehart and his "fat Elvis" take
MSNBC's Jonathan Capehart delivered a dry report with this one-liner arguing Trump was starting a "revenge" campaign.

7. The Good Liars and the Mar-a-Lago bathroom documents
The "Good Liars" were at it again in June, asking Trump supporters how they felt about Special Counsel Jack Smith's indictment contending the former president stored White House documents in a shower in his Florida social club. One woman argued, in Trump's defense, "it was stupid."
The Good Liars agreed.
