A man in Jhimani village allegedly assaulted his wife after she berated him for returning home drunk. The man, Arabinda Sethi, a contractual worker at a private company in Paradip, tied his wife, Ranjita Sethi, to a tree. She was later freed by villagers who took her to the police station. The couple has a seven-year-old daughter and a five-year-old son. Police have filed a case and are investigating the incident.
