CORONATION Street fans have been left unhappy after one character underwent a ‘personality transplant’ as part of their wicked new ways.
Viewers of the ITV soap opera have suggested the move to make Daniel Osbourne act cruel as ‘unbelievable’ with it being so far removed from his everyday self.
Fans have slammed Daniel’s wicked ways[/caption] His cruel words to Daisy have sparked a backlash[/caption]Daniel has had a difficult time lately after discovering his partner Daisy Midgeley had been unfaithful behind his back.
Daisy had grown close to Ryan Connor once again with the pair going onto sleep together.
They managed to keep their sordid secret under wraps for quite some time but the truth eventually spilled out thanks to a leaked recording and Daniel soon knew just what his fiance had been getting up to.
Having called time on their romance, Daniel was clearly bitter and devastated and masked his overwhelming pain and sadness by being nasty to Daisy.
He has offered up cruel jibes to his one-time lover and taken pleasure in seeing her world crumble around her.
Having bumped into each other on the street, he viciously said: “I would invite you to come to lunch but I don’t want too. I am not good enough for you though clearly.”
He continued his rand to say: “Have you heard the latest? Ryan and Crystal are getting back together and going up to Glasgow to start a new life together, tomorrow Simon tells me.
“Still… further away from you the better I suppose. Dodged a bullet there. So, what now then?
“Suppose you just wait for the next sap to come along?”
But for some viewers of the show, the ‘new Daniel’ is so far-removed from what the show is used to portraying him as, that it seems unconvincing.
Slamming the writing and the direction of Daniel, one Coronation Street fan penned on X – formerly Twitter: “Daniel is horrid he can turn love to hate in an instant #Corrie.”
Another wrote: “Not buying the cruel Daniel #Corrie.”
Before a third penned: “Daisy and Daniel both entering their Villain Era #Corrie.”
Coronation Street continues tonight at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
