Marin Catholic football standouts Zach Taylor and Charles Williams were expected to sign letters of intent on Tuesday afternoon.
Taylor, an inside linebacker who was named the MCAL defensive player of the year, announced via social media on Monday that he’s committing to play at Bowdoin College.
Williams, who played running back, cornerback and kick returner for MC, is committing to play for the University of Wyoming. Williams is a multi-sport star at Marin Catholic, who is currently competing in basketball.
During their tenure at MC, Taylor and Williams helped the Wildcats win state titles in 2021 and 2023.
Branson scored a pair of late goals to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat in a 2-1 win against San Marin on Monday.
Audrey Spaly scored the game-tying goal for the Bulls in the 80th minute following a corner kick. Charlotte Johnson scored the winner in stoppage time.
San Marin (3-1-1) took its first loss of the season but took a 1-0 lead on a first-half goal by Logan McDonald.
The Bulls (7-0-2) needed to mount another second-half rally on Tuesday after falling behind against Terra Linda. Branson scored three times in a five-minute span midway through the half en route to a 4-1 win. Sabrina Hwang scored in the 54th minute then Branson got two goals by Julia Myerberg in the 58th and 59th minutes. Sophie Arnal capped the scoring in the 80th minute. Whitney Collett had three assists and Ally Hsieh had the other. Josie Quinby scored in the 29th minute for TL (4-1-1), which also took its first loss of the season.
• Jaela Brown scored the game’s only goal as San Rafael took down Antioch 1-0 on Monday. Emely Chacon posted the shutout in front of the net for the Bulldogs (3-0-3) who remain unbeaten this season.
Two Hornets players registered double-doubles as Novato High edged Pinole Valley, 65-62, Monday night. Joshua DeVore led the Hornets with 29 points, 11 rebounds and five assists, while Travis Flick had 18 points, 10 rebounds and five steals. Andrew Halsing tipped in eight points for the Hornets (4-6).
• The Branson School opened the Tarkanian Classic on Monday night with a 71-57 victory over St. Bernard in Las Vegas. The Bulls played Florida’s Calvary Christian in Tuesday’s nightcap.
Seniors Lily Reeser, Averey Conklin, Mina Swaim and Summer Jenkins combined for 47 points to lead San Domenico to a convincing 57-42 win over Division 5 powerhouse Mt. Diablo on Monday. The Panthers are hosting a boys and girls tournament at Dominican University through Thursday, with featured teams including San Domenico, Marin Academy, San Marin and Maria Carrillo.
Terra Linda High is accepting applications for a varsity baseball coach for the upcoming spring season. Terra Linda is also hiring a JV head coach and JV assistant coach.
