Former President Donald Trump was disqualified from the Colorado Republican primary ballot on Tuesday after the state Supreme Court ruled against him, almost certainly setting up a fight at the U.S. Supreme Court.
And one of his rivals is vowing to boycott the Colorado primary if this ruling holds.
"I pledge to withdraw from the Colorado GOP primary unless Trump is also allowed to be on the state’s ballot, and I demand that Ron DeSantis, Chris Christie, and Nikki Haley to do the same immediately," said businessman Vivek Ramaswamy, according to Sharyl Attkisson on X.
According to Ramaswamy, the decision is one based on politics.
"This is what an *actual* attack on democracy looks like: in an un-American, unconstitutional, and *unprecedented* decision, a cabal of Democrat judges are barring Trump from the ballot in Colorado," the Republican candidate said. "Having tried every trick in the book to eliminate President Trump from running in this election, the bipartisan Establishment is now deploying a new tactic to bar him from ever holding office again: the 14th Amendment."

Ramaswamy, who has campaigned as a hard-right candidate and pushed conspiracy theories about the Capitol attack, the September 11 attacks, and "Great Replacement," has frequently been complimentary of the former president even while ostensibly running against him for the GOP nomination.
The Trump campaign itself has vowed to move forward with the appeal process as quickly as possible.
A ruling by the Supreme Court on the Colorado decision, which centered on the Insurrection Clause of the 14th Amendment, could have far-reaching consequences for Trump's ballot access in various states.
