The Saints defense had Tommy DeVito’s number in New Orleans’s 24–6 win over the Giants on Sunday. But one starter didn’t even know the New York quarterback’s name when the week began.
DeVito enjoyed his moment in the sun last week after leading the Giants to victory on Monday Night Football against the Packers. But he and the rest of the offense were held in check in New Orleans, managing just 193 total yards as DeVito was sacked seven times.
One member of the Saints defensive line who helped make life difficult for DeVito was Khalen Saunders, who admitted after the game that he only recently learned DeVito’s full name.

But Khalen did admit he didn’t realize what Tommy’s first name actually was until later in the week..
“I thought his name was Danny DeVito.” ???????? Quote of the day! pic.twitter.com/m3jouB9aG1
“I enjoyed the whole Italian spiel, whatever they got going on,” Saunders told reporters. “I like it, and I like that he’s feeding into it. And I ain’t going to lie, I didn’t really know his name for like the first two days of film [study]. I thought his name was Danny DeVito. But I found out it was Tommy. You can’t blame me. Ends in a Y. You got a little double M, double N. It is what it is.”
Saunders can’t be the only person to mix up the quarterback and the award-winning actor. He’s right to say that their names are fairly similar. But there’s one major difference between the two DeVitos: Tommy is about 14 inches taller than Danny.
