SAN MATEO — A man who hit two pedestrians with a car in San Mateo was arrested Wednesday after one of the victims took a snapshot of the vehicle immediately after the crash, police said.
The crash took place around 8:56 p.m. Tuesday, when two people were hit by a Toyota Corolla while walking in a crosswalk at the intersection of Edison Street and West Hillsdale Boulevard. The victims told police that the Toyota’s driver did not stop after the collision and fled the scene.
The victims received medical attention at the scene but were expected to recover.
One of the victims managed to take a photo of the car before it sped away, and showed it to officers responding at the scene.
On Wednesday officers located the vehicle and suspect in the city of Belmont. The 30-year-old Redwood City resident was arrested on suspicion of felony hit and run and booked into San Mateo County Jail.
