WINNING the at-home festive holiday decor war is now easier – and more affordable – than ever.
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas – only chicer – at this DIYer’s home, all thanks to a pool noodle and some budget-friendly ornaments.
This design guru’s standout project was proof that you could get dazzling at a discount.
“How I made an amazing holiday centerpiece out of a pool noodle,” said Bethie (@being_bethie).
This queen of Christmas chic would only change one thing for the next time around.
“If I had to do this again I would not use a blue noodle by the way,” she explained.
Still, the home, beauty, fashion, and recipe maven made it work – and added some multi-colored ornaments for an extra wow factor.
Bethie brought out her glue gun – hot pink of course – and began applying the festive array of multi-sized balls to the sides and the top of the pool noodle.
Her pro-tip: “Start from the top and use the biggest ornaments first.”
Don’t have a big budget? Don’t despair, as one of Bethie’s followers found out.
“The big ornaments are pricey for me that would cost a little bit to make,” said one saddened viewer.
Replied Bethie: “You can get them on Amazon for a good price or Hobby Lobby is 60% off right now.”
And she wasn’t done just yet with her fun and festive decor.
“I then took floral picks and any kind of stem will work to fill in the holes,” she explained.
Pine cones and berries could now be found along the centerpiece.
Next, she placed everything on a mirrored tray and added some flocked greenery to the bottom for an even more luxe look.
For this step, she purchased snowy artificial pine needle branches for $13.99 on Amazon.
The decorative faux find, which is covered with white frost, is described as offering a light and airy feel without any upkeep.
The versatile flocked greenery indeed seemed to have multiple uses.
“I have them outside with lights and they look beautiful,” wrote one enthused buyer.
And she wasn’t the only holiday lover enjoying the find.
“I saw these and knew I could use them in my Christmas decor. When they arrived they were prettier than I thought. I was so happy I ordered another set!” another reviewer chimed in.
Her $16.99 set of Lulu Home Christmas picks, featuring artificial pine cones and red berries, could also be found on Amazon.
These filler pieces also had many satisfied customers.
Wrote one happy shopper: “These are really decent quality. I was worried they would look cheap, but was impressed when I opened them.”
“The variety of sizes was great and they looked nice on my wrapped presents,” said yet another buyer.
Made of premium plastic, along with foam and metal wire, the crafted picks are both durable and reusable.
These handmade items can also be slightly adjusted to fit a variety of decorations.
Bethie was amazed at the final centerpiece look: “I love the way it turned out and it was so easy and affordable.”
And many others agreed.
“Beautiful! Thank you for sharing,” wrote one impressed follower.
Exclaimed another: “I just went from a round table to a rectangular table and I am so doing this!”
This follower had a suggestion of their own to save Bethie from a decor disaster next holiday season.
“Spray paint the pool noodle red or black or green or white or silver,” she advised.
“Yes!” replied a thankful Bethie.
